I Had a black Mars pro, now also bought a white. great sound works great when networked, great Stereo sound. Networking them was difficult the first time. but once I actually paid attention to how it had to be done, it got much easier.
I'd like to make a serious review since these speakers are seriously pricy. So i will divide it in a few categories. First Build quality, Sound, and or usage experience.
So building quality wise? These speakers are built very solidly. can't complain at all. They're definitely build well, designed well in the sense of materials and or weight and ruggedness for desk speakers. They are an absolute eye catcher, which will tie in with the end of my review and make sense of my title and rating. The led lights are absolutely gorgeous and being able to position them in slightly different ways make them look seriously awesome. The light behind the grill, it's really a cool robot look. However, this is not a very hard thing to achieve if you have the right controllers, and or there are also other brands that also synchronise led settings over their stereo pairing capabilities. So it's not "that special" to be honest. But it definitely finishes the build. As well the cable connections for USB-C make it easy to charge with the included 90 degree angled cables.
Sound wise these speakers are just set wrong. They want to give you the illusion of bass by reducing treble. Even though it has as it mentions a full range driver. With an equalizer this can be corrected. Volume wise they are ok. Bass wise they are kind of ok, but i definitely expected a bit more with their overly marketed STRONG bass descriptions. What i can say for the sound that it produces is that it is VERY balanced. So it's definitely comfortable to listen to and doesn't distort for what it displays. The internal regulation if you up the bass though is way too blatantly aggressive and just completely muffles the speaker, instead of just "limiting" what intensity of bass it can actually produce while still sounding balanced. So audiophile? absolutely not. It's a decently sounding speaker. for the price however if you go audiophile, there are WAY better options out there. For example bass wise, my Sony SRS-XB43 beats the gravastars by miles with a much more punchier and cleaner bass. I do have to say that the high tones of the gravastar mars speakers however are better for sure. At least it doesn't over compensate to go "loud only". Anyhow my point is, if sound is definitely more important on certain levels. This really really isn't for you. Especially the "audiophile" experience or marketing to me seems way too overly exaggerated. Then again I must also definitely confess they do sound very good for what they are with their size. I think it could have marketed a bit more "honest" however, as well as the internal audio regulation could have been more efficient.
Usage experience I have to say is simply very nice though. The current released manual describes more than enough details of what the led signals do and how to pair a stereo duo if you happen to buy 2 or want to get 2 in the future. The volume control can sometimes be a bit "tricky" but is, once getting used to how to touch it, very nice to have. The starting up of the speakers is really a cool touch with the robot sounds. as well as it is with powering them down. it just adds to the niche or experience you expect out of a special product like this one. The only pet peeve I have is that the lights aren't on the same flashing strength on lower levels, or at least a little more visible. That could have been a bit nicer. Though that is hard to regulate and I don't mind this all to much. It's a tiny pet peeve in the usage or experience of the speakers with the light modes.
So all in all it comes down to the balance for this speaker between it's special design, and still having a decent sound. the balance between "Niche and Core Functionality". Core functionality as being a Bluetooth speaker marketed as an audiophile speaker as well next to it's niche or very specific / special design. This product is really for you if you want the special design and still want a sound stage that is not "completely Chinese cheapskate", which by the way this speaker definitely isn't. Like I said. It's still very nice to listen to and it adds to the experience while still also being build and designed with decent materials. All in all it's a very nice special speaker to have. Make absolutely sure you want to have a combined experience. Otherwise I'd absolutely advice to buy something else instead. Personally I do love these speakers as they are a very fitting and fun addition to an enthusiastic gaming rig. And just absolutely screams: sci fi nut. I wanted to have them for softer but decent sound than a bigger 2,1 set. and a specific design. Reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 is only the exaggeration of "audiophile" quality and "super strong pounding bass". Otherwise this is fully worth what I've paid for it to be honest!
